B11 PANGMAN, Pearl Louise "Babe" Loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away at her home in El Paso on July 6, 2006. Babe was born in El Paso, Texas, on April 20, 1915. She graduated from Austin High School, attended the University of Texas at El Paso and the University of Texas at Austin, where she was the university's first Homecoming Queen. In 1939, she married William John Pangman, MD, her husband for over 50 years; he preceded her in death in 1990. He was former head of the plastic surgery department at El Paso City Hospital and member of the surgery staff of Southwestern General Hospital, and Hotel Dieu Hospital. Their son William Wooldridge Pangman was born in El Paso in 1944. In 1947, when Bill was three, John was called to serve as a Navy surgeon at Oak Knoll Hospital. The family later settled in Southern California where Babe was active in Junior League and John had a plastic surgery practice at St. John's Hospital, West Hollywood Surgery Center, and in La Jolla. After Bill graduated from Occidental College and USC Law School, Babe and John returned to El Paso to be near her parents Henry and Hilda Wooldridge, El Paso pioneers. Bill is a Superior Court Judge in Sierra County, California. Babe is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Bill and Sheryl Pangman, grandchildren Shelley Pangman and Brandon Pangman, Brandon's wife Suzi, and great-grandchildren Mason and Tanner Pangman, all of whom reside in California.
