He was born in Falls Co., TX 20 Sep 1840 and died in Falls Co., TX 15 May 1862. He contracted measles during the war and was sent home to recover. As I understand it, he was buried either in the Johnson Cemetery in Reagan, Falls Co., TX or on the Whitaker family plantation along with his father, a major in the Army of the Republic of Texas, and several other family members. I do not believe the graves were marked permanently and that the cemetery is now unknown. [My great-grandmother was James' sister.] File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/tx/falls/photos/documents/whitaker2173ph.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/txfiles/ File size: 1.4 Kb
