The submitter has given permission to the USGenWeb Archives to store the file permanently for free access. http://www.usgwarchives.net ************************************************************************** DODD CITY GRABS 45-B TITLE WITH 46-41 WIN HERE Ector Eagles Lose In Final Minutes Of Jam-Up Game Dodd City wrapped up the 1950 championship of District 45-B here Saturday night with a thrilling 46-41 win over Ector in a see-saw battle in Bonhi gymnasium. Dodd City won the title by ramming home eight points in the last 2 minutes and 45 seconds of the game while holding Ector to three. The score was knotted 38-38 when the 2-minute rest period came and action was furious the rest of the way. It was Hollis who put the game away for Dodd City as he canned eight points in the last quarter---five of them in the last two minutes. Ector started out like a house afire and was out in front 17-12 at the end of the first quarter. In the second quarter, it was Dodd City who caught fire and pulled away to a 25-23 lead as John Fletcher rolled in 10 points. In the third period, Ector rallied and was leading 35-30 at the end of the third quarter. Then came the final quarter which saw Dodd City pull the game out of the fire! Hez Ray of Ector took scoring honors with 17 points on seven field goals and three gift shots. Joe Lynn Vowell of Ector counted 12 as did Hollis of Dodd City. The Dodd City girls defeated Ector 45-28 after trailing 6-9 at the end of the first quarter. Bertine Fletcher was high for Dodd City with 24 points and Duckworth took scoring honors for Ector with 13. Betty Fletcher scored 14 points for Dodd City and Sue Wilson had 10 for Ector.
