Johnson be and he hereby is appointed admin of the Estate of J.C. Alford dec’d – bond Page 317 George T. _eswell, W.W. Wade & J.M. McCalester be & they hereby appointed appraisers to appraise the property belonging to the Estate of J.C. Alford deceased. A.D. 1861 Page 324 F.M. Johnson has this day presented to the court his bond as admin of the Estate of J.C. Alford, dec’d for the Sum of Four Hundred Dollars with C. Clark, John B. Anderson & Peter Clawson as his Surities, Said Bond is hereby approved by this court & ordered to be filed and recorded. Page 324 F.M. Johnson admr for the Estate of J.C. Alford dec’d has this day filed in court an Inventory & appraisement of the property belonging to the Estate of said decedent. Verified by the proper affidavit. It is recorded by this Court that said inventory & appraisement be filed and recorded. Page 329 County Court May Term A.D. 1861 This day came on to be heard the petition of FM Johnson adm’r of the Estate of JC Alford dec’d praying for an order of Court to Sell Lot of Carpenters tools, farming tools and one third interest in a certain town Lot & improvements in the Town of Fayetteville in order to raise means to make up the years allowance for the widow and children of said decedent. It is ordered by the Court that said property be sold on a Credit until the first of January Next in order to raise means to make up the Yearly allowance of the widow & children of said decedent & to pay Costs of administration. Court adjourned until the Next regular Term IB McFarland Chief Justice F.C. Page 332 Acentry Page 338 County Court August Term A.D. 1861 The State of Texas County of Fayette Be it remembered that the Honorable County Court of Fayette County met at a regular Term at the Court House in the Town of LaGrange on Monday the 26th day of August A.D. 1861. present Isaac B. McFarland Ch Justice ZMP French Clerk Co. Court Wm M Davidson Sheriff Case 539 Estate of JC Alford dec’d F.M. Johnson admr of the Estate of J.C. Alford dec’d having on the 6th day of August 1861 filed in Court a Report of Sale of One third interest in a certain House and Lot Situated in the Town of Fayetteville. Said Report of sale being examined and the manner in which Said Sale was made being inquired into by the Court, and it appearing to the Satisfaction of the Court that Said Sale was fairly made and in conformity with law. It is therefore ordered adjudged and decreed by the Court that Said Sale be in all things confirmed and that said report of Sale be filed and recorded, and it is further ordered by the Court that F.M. Johnson the admr of said estate proceed to make execute and deliver to W.F. Rich the purchaser of said interest in said House and Lot, a deed of conveyance, conveying all the right title claim and interest that said estate has in and to Said House and Lot upon his complying with the Term of said Sale. Page 554 Johnson cited to appear with full accounting showing condition of estate. Additional Comments: J.C. Alford is not in my family, however, his widow, Amanda, married James L. Groce, who is my ancestor. Therefore, I did not take the time to copy the entire estate record. I transcribed what I had because I felt it might help someone else.
