Donation of Land -Ross Prairie- Charles and Dorothea HILLMANN State of Texas No. 6441 Fayette County Know all men by these presents that I, CHARLES HILLMANN, and my wife DOROTHEA HILLMANN, do by these presents makes a donation of 5 acres of land to the Trustees of the Evangelical Lutheran Church Communion in Ross Prairie in Fayette County, Texas, JACOB F. DIRR, JOHN H. MEIER, AUGUSTUS BEYER, and HENRY BAUMBATH, under the condition that they have to build a church, a schoolhouse and a church yard thereon. These 5 acres of land are situated in Ross Prairie, Fayette County, about 13 miles east of the town of La Grange, and is a part of a Survey of 294 acres made for CHARLES HILLMANN and out of a league of land granted to W. O. BURNAM as a colonist and is bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at the rock mound on a hill in the prairie the north corner of a 500 acre survey made for Elizabeth DIRR. Thence N 43 E 150 varas with the west line of aforesaid 294 acres Survey to a stake in the prairie Thence S 47 E 188 1/6 varas to a stake in the prairie, thence S 43 W 150 varas to a stake. The same is the east corner of a 5 acre tract for these said buildings from E. DIRR Thence N 47 W 188 1/6 varas to the place of beginning. To Have and to hold said tract of land thereunto belonging unto the said trustees, DIRR, MEIER, BEYER and BAUMBATH, and their successors forever, and we CHARLES HILLMAN and his wife DOROTHEA do by these presents bind ourselves to warranty and forever defend the title to the same unto said trustees or successors against the lawful claims of every other person claiming the same or any part thereof. She being a party to this instrument of writing hereunto attached bearing date on the 26th day of September A.D. 1859, and having been by me examined separate and apart from her said husband , and said instrument having been by me fully explained to her. She acknowledged the same to be her free act and deed, and declared that she had willingly and without fear or compulsion signed, sealed and delivered the same for the consideration and purposes thereunto stated and that she wished not to retract it. Also came CHARLES HILLMAN he being party to the same, and acknowledged that he signed the same for the purposes and consideration therein contained.
