I have been 62 years in Texas. After the battle of San Jacinto, the Govt put out the Mexican prisoners to any who would feed them. I had several of them at the first buil____ of Houston until Capt. Holland fitted a Brig. to send them off to Mexico. I went to the front in 1842 to reinforce Old Paint Calldwell at the Battle of ___ & Dawsons masacur & remained at the first until enrolled as a private in Capt. James Bryants Co belonging to the 1st Regament Cavalry under Alex Somerville by authorizing of Saml Houston, President of the Republic. My discharge is in the Archives at Austin.
