Charles and Charlotte moved from Kentucky to Macoupin Co IL in 1828. They bought a farm the SE corner of Bunker Hill Township about a half-mile from Dorchester Township and about a mile north of the Macoupin Co-Madison Co line. Four children (including Charles Jr.) were born on the farm to Charles and Charlotte. In 1840 Charles Goodnight, Sr. died from pneumonia and was buried on the farm. Charles Goodnight, Jr. later moved to Texas, becoming a cattleman and was best known for his association with Oliver Loving for which the Goodnight-Loving Trail is named. One of the cattle drives led by Charles and Oliver was one from Fort Belknap TX. to Denver CO. The former Goodnight farm in Macoupin Co., IL. has been in the family of the late Henry Wolff since 1938. What happened to Charlotte and the other Goonight children is not known at this time. ---
