Ben is listed again with family in Fairfield in 1870 Freestone County, Texas at 150/150. His daughter (Roxie Virginia) is buried at Cotton Gin as the wife of William F. Roberts. His wife is Ann Gracy (Cleveland) Ferrell and she outlives him by many years and is buried in the Mexia city cemetery in adjacent Limestone County, Texas. Ben is a slave owner in 1860 and one of his slaves, Argus, dies in 1860 in the mortality census.
