On Wednesday Chief Justice Robinson investigated the sanity of Henry J. Jewett, Judge of the 13?th Judicial District. During the investigation, we learn that Col. J. W. Durant, who appeared as counsel for the Judge, in a speech adverted in complimentary terms to his acquirements as a scholar, his integrity as a man and his qualifications as jurist, and expressed his regret at the melancholy duty which devolved upon the jury on that occasion. Col. Durant has been highly complimented for his speech. The jury rendered a verdict that the Judge was insane, and recommended him as a fit subject for the Lunatic Asylum.— Centreville Times. We see that the Legislature, in view of the fact of Judge Jewett's unfortunate situation, have passed a resolution declaring his office vacant. There will consequently be no court this spring, we presume, in the 13th District. - South West
