A History of Central and Western Texas, Volume 2 Lewis Publishing Company, 1911; pages 483-484 Aaron B. Rennolds - One of the most prominent jurists practicing at the bar of Mexia is Aaron B. Rennolds, a lawyer of well known ability and the city's present mayor. He was born in Grimes county, Texas, October 4, 1857, a son of William B. and Sallie (Shannon) Reynolds, who were born respectively in Virginia and in South Carolina, and who were married in Grimes county, Texas. William B. Rennolds was also a lawyer, practicing in Grimes county before the war. He served the Confederacy as a Civil war soldier, but on account of failing health he was obliged to resign from the army and return home. There were but two sons in his family, and the death of the younger, William, has left the subject of the review and his mother the sole survivors of the family. Aaron B. Rennolds attended the district schools of Freestone county, Trinity University at Tehuacana, and was admitted to practice in the District courts, September 7, 1898, in the Supreme court of Texas May 6, 1899, in the United States Circuit court November 16, 1903, and in the United States District court on the same date. He has served Mexia for several terms as city attorney, has also been district deputy county attorney, and is now serving his third term as the city's mayor. When he first came to Mexia in 1880, he secured employment as a clerk and later became a member of the mercantile firm of Simmons and Rennolds, but in 1896 he sold his mercantile interests and has since devoted himself to the practice of law. He is also quite extensively engaged in loaning money. Mr. Rennolds married a daughter of one of the leading physicians of eastern Texas in an early day, Miss Emma Means, who was born to Dr. T.L.C. Means in Freestone county. The four living children of this union are: Thomas A., in the employ of the Wells-Fargo Express Company at Dallas; W.B. Leland M. and Emma E. The first born child, Etta Earle, died when fourteen years of age. Mr. Rennolds gives his political allegiance to the Democratic party, and he is a member of the Presbyterian church at Mexia.
