Freestone County, Texas Biographies Biography of Gilbert Cobb Richardson Gilbert Cobb Richardson was born 1809 (according to census records) or 1798 (according to his tombstone) to Samuel Garthon Richardson and Celia (Hackney) Richardson. Gilbert married Lucinda Caroline (Cosper) Richardson on 17 Dec 1833 in Greene Co., AL. Gilbert appears in the 1850 Greene Co., AL. census as a farmer. Then in late 1853 he moves his family to Freestone County paying taxes for his 800 acres of land that was part of the E. J. Jackson land on Tawacana creek in 1854. His brother, Nathan, appeared in Freestone County two years earlier and stayed in Freestone County after Gilbert left in late 1859 after the August taxes. Gilbert has his school age children listed in the 1855 scholastic census for Freestone County. Gilbert serves on juries in 1854 and 1856 in Freestone County. Gilbert continues paying taxes on land until 1860 when he moved to Robertson County, Texas. Gilbert appears in the 1860 census for Robertson County as a fairly wealthy farmer. Gilbert dies on 22 Jun 1862 in Robertson County, Texas and Lucinda dies Dec 1869. Both are buried next to each other in Owensville Cemetery East in Owensville, Robertson County, Texas. Gilbert had 3 sons and 5 daughters. They were Virginia G. (b 1836), Frances M. Anna (b 1840), Caroline A. (b 1843), Newton (b 1847), Julia H. (1847), Gilbert H. (b 1849), James Melton (b 1853), and Nora C. (1859). All children were born in Greene Co., AL., except James and Nora born in Freestone County, Texas. All the children's marriages happened after they moved to Robertson County, Texas. Gilbert's daughter, Frances, married Jacob Albert Womack who was before the Civil War the county court clerk for Freestone County and after they married they moved to Freestone County where again he won county court clerk. She died in 1869 according to Jake's biography, but her grave has not been located.
