Freestone County, Texas Cemeteries Baker-Prowell Family Cemetery ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Contributed by: Annette Burdett [Also appears in "History of Freestone County, Vol II" - pg. 44] Cemetery History: This seems to be the family cemetery of Sarah Prowell Baker and her children from her marriage with Calvin Prowell. History: Sarah Elizabeth Prowell was the daughter of Thomas Washington & Margaret Mitchell Prowell. Sarah Elizabeth Prowell married Calvin Hart Prowell on 29 Jul 1869 in Freestone County, Texas. Later she married Rufus M. Baker in 6 Jul 1899 in Freestone County, Texas. Calvin, who died on Aug 24, 1895 is believed buried with his first wife Margaret Mary Agnes (she died on Nov 26, 1867). Calvin and Margaret are buried in unmarked graves (more likely at Shanks Cemetery or less likely here). Directions: about one mile west of Shanks and FM 80 between Simsboro and Kirvin.
