Freestone Co. TX Brewer Family Cemetery ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Status: Inactive Background: Small privately owned located just inside the Freestone county line. Green Berry Brewer filled for land on October 10, 1835 from the State of Coahuila and Texas, Mexico. Brewer got the land after paying the Mexican government $62.50 on October 26, 1835. Later this was to become the Brewer Prairie community (the precursor to Teague). Cemetery Description: Covers about 1/3 acre with cyclone fence enclosure. Location: 6 miles east of Donie. Directions: From Donie, take a left on FM-164, travel 1.8 miles towards Buffalo, take another left and travel .3 miles on a gravel road and you will see a small wooden sign. Take a left and go .2 miles on a narrow road. Number of Gaves: 8 fieldstone markers, number of iron-ore rocks marking burial sites, and three sites marked with seashells.
