Freestone County, Texas Cemeteries [Warning - There are two Jerusalem churches in Freestone County.] Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery African American Cemetery - [Jerusalem West] Status : Active Location: West of I-45. Background: A burial ground for residents of the old Jerusalem community between Dew and Teague near the old Avant Prairie community. About all that is left of the community is a church (the Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church) and a cemetery. Rain from the area drains north into the Upper Keechi Creek. Cemetery Description: The church is single white building with spire. The cemetery is marked with the sign "Jerusalem Cemetery" over the entry gate. Directions: Follow the "Jerusalem Cemetery" sign on the Farm Market road (FM-179) from Teague to Dew. Sign is about halfway between Teague and I-45. Cemetery lies just north of the church. Directions2: Jerusalem Church and Cemetery is located off Hwy 75 south of Fairfield, cross over I-45 going west and turn right at first road on the right and travel to the end. Oldest Marked Grave: Warren Livingston d 1873 There are many unreadable funeral home markers.
