Freestone County, Texas Cemeteries Killgore/Kilgore Family Cemetery ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Background: A family cemetery located near the old home of Charles Killgore/Kilgore. *1* *2* Charles Killgore married Mary Ann Cockrum about 1848 and then started raising a family of 3 kids in what then was Limestone Co., TX. but soon became Freestone Co., TX. Mary died before the 1860 census. Charles remarried to Mrs. Patience Malinda (Self) Cockrum, widow of John Cockrum. Then Charles had a large family of another 9 children. Cemetery Description: The original size looks 50' x 40' under a cluster of cedars and ground cover of lilies. Currently on private property owned by the Moore family. General Location: the old Avant Prairie area *2* Directions: Located 7 miles E of Teague, just south of State Highway 179, Teague to Dew. Located across from the Avant Prairie Cemetery off FM 179. His remains were interred in Monday the family graveyard on his place."
