The census states that Thomas was 63, from KY (incorrect), a farmer, and that he died of consumption. *3* = John is in 1867 voters registration (of Freestone Co., TX. done on 16 Aug 1867) after his marriage to Miss Mary Worth Whitaker on 25 Sep 1865. John is not listed on 1870 agriculture census but his wife is. John is definitely dead when his widow, Mrs. Mary Lamb, marries Silas J. Lake on 15 Jan 1872.
