Old Spring Seat Baptist Church Cemetery ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- by Eric Bonner Wood African American cemetery Status: Active Location: 1.1 miles east of Donie. Near the border with Leon County. Directions: Head east of Donie on highway 164. Turn right on a dirt road and go 7.5 miles. Turn left. .2 miles to the chapel and cemetery. The cemetery is fenced with barbed wire fence to keep out cattle. Background: This 4 acre cemetery was for the old Spring Seat community. The "New" Spring Seat community is located south of Dew. Overview: Majority are hand made grave stones from concrete with hand written markings, while others blank. Many unmarked graves with only just a iron ore rock. Some graves have been covered by the trees.
