Freestone County, Texas Censuses 1870 Mortality Schedule for Freestone County, Texas by Eric Bonner Wood proof read by Wanda Willard Smith [Transcription Notes: This document will be *FCM70* for my reference. The numbers of the left are mine and for indexing purposes. The images were viewed on Ancestry. Unfortunately Ancestry images chop the first column and part of the final disease column. The Texas State Archives in Austin, Texas has the original Mortality Schedules for Texas for the years of 1850, 1860, 1870, and 1880. Microfilm copies can be found in the Texas State Library in Austin. This census covers people who died between July 1, 1869 to June 1, 1870. I used modern postal abbreviations for states, such as "TN" for "Tennessee" to save space. Brackets [] signify that column was left blank. This blank column is usually foreign parents, occupation, or the marriage column (for kids and infants). Whether the deceased was (married or widowed) and (white or mulatto) is hard to tell. It is hard to tell the letter "W" from the letter "M" for this census taker. Fortunately the totals at the bottom really help. I went back and reconciled the numbers. Ages with "x/28", "x/30", or "x/31" where "x" is the age in number of days. Ages with "x/12" where "x" is the age in number of months. On diseases that were the same the census taker put "Do" for ditto and I have just repeated the disease. ] [Page 1] Schedule 2 - Persons who Died during the Year ending June 1, 1870 in ______ County of Freestone, State of Texas, enumerated by me, H M Majors [The columns are:] "Name" | "Age" | "Sex" | "Color" | "Married?/Widowed?" | "Birth Place" | "Foreign Father" | "Foreign Mother" | "Month Died" | "Occupation" | "Cause of Death" [1] Walker, Jane 1 F B [] TX [] [] Feb [] Unknown [2] Hancock, Elizabeth 50 F W M TN [] [] Dec Keeps House Dropsy [3] Fantroy, M.
