Freestone County, Texas Churches First Baptist Church of Streetman Organized as County-Line Baptist Church of Christ on Dec 3, 1882 near the county line dividing the counties of Freestone and Navarro. Construction of a church building started June of 1883. According to History of Freestone County, Volume I pg. 159 the charter members numbered twenty males and twenty-nine females led by W. T. Harvard. The 1883 Prairie Grove Baptist Association records lists County Line Baptist with: 26 members, its post office as Richland Station, J.C. Easterling as the clerk, W.S. Harvan was the pastor, and sent J.T. Dunegan, P.R. Smith, J.F. Easterling as messengers. In 1884, County Line Baptist was listed with 36 members and Cade as its post office. In 1886, County Line Baptist was listed with 41 members and Winkler as its post office. In 1887, there was 47 members. In 1889, some were dismissed by letter so down to 43 members and back to Cade as its post office. On Nov 22, 1908, the church voted to combine with Birdston and relocate to Streetman. The name was changed in the move to Streetman Baptist Church that later became known as First Baptist Church of Streetman. In May 1927, they decided to construct a new church building.
