Mr. Milton Stephens and his sister Miss Willie, of Kosse, are visiting friends in Fairfield this week. Mr. Jim Bonner [James Andrew Bonner, son of Dr. James Issac Bonner] was down from Navarro the first of this week. He says that the fence cutters are playing havoc with the pastures in his county. A negro was brought to town and lodged in jail this week, who is supposed to have had something to do with the killing of Robt. Martin near Buffalo, some time ago. The young man Douglas, who was shot last week near Cotton Gin by one Jackson, is dead. Douglas was with Constable Loader's posse, trying to arrest Jackson when he was shot. Jackson is still at large, and Sheriff Childs has offered a $100.00 reward for his arrest. Mr. Eads and wife of Butler, are visiting in town this week. Mrs. Eads will probably remain here, on account of her health. ------------------------------------------ Notice to Creditors To those holding claims against the estate of J. H. Buntly [or Bentley] deceased: The undersigned having been duly appointed administrator of the estate of J. H. Buntly, late of Freestone County deceased, by the county Judge of Freestone county on the 16th day of July last, during a regular term of the county court, hereby notifies all persons having claims against said estate to present them to him at his residence near Luna in Freestone County Tex., at which place he receives his mail. Bentley [was Buntly above], deceased ------------------------------------------ CITATION THE STATE OF TEXAS To the Sheriff or any constable of Freestone county greeting: Oath therefor having been made as required by law, you are hereby commanded that, by making publication of htis citation in some newspaper published in said county once a week for 4 consecutive weeks previous to return day hereof, you summon Rachel Williamson, defendant, to be and appear before the district court to be holden in and for the afforesaid county of Freestone at the court house thereof, in Fairfield on the first Monday in September 1888 then and ???? to answer the petition of J. N. Williamson, plaintiff, filed in said court on the 3d day of August 1888, and numbered on the docket of said court 1580, against the said Rachel Williamson and alleging in substance as follows: That plaintiff now resides in Freestone county, Texas, and has so resided continously for six months preceding the filing of his petition. Plaintiff further represents that he and defendant were duly married in McLennan county Texas on the 10th day of April, A.D. 1880. That they continued to live together as man and wife until the 13th day of April 1883, when defendant wilfully and voluntarily left his bed and board with the intension of abandonment. That she has so abandoned plaintiff for over three years preceding the filing of his petition, that she has of times been solicited to return to the embraces of the unhappy plaintiff, but has invariably refused to do so, notwit standing plaintiff has languished for years for the want of that consolation afforded by a loving spouse. Plaintiff therefore prays the court to grant him a decree of divorce, and for general relief as far as the court is able to grant. Herein fail not, but have you then and there, before said court, this writ, with your return thereon, showing how you have executed the same. Issued this the 3d day of August 1888 Witness: W. R.
