Oct. 23 — A way to enforce prohibition was made possible under the Fitzhugh-Robinson liquor law limiting the number of saloons in each precinct to one for every 500 inhabitants. The town of Fairfield, in Freestone county, went wet a few weeks ago and almost immediately applications for permits were filed with the comptroller for the maximum number of saloons allowed. The Comptroller approved the applications. Subsequently there were other applications, all of which were outside the limit of the law. No saloons have been opened. The applications were taken out by prohibitionists, who resorted to that method to keep the town dry.
