The first meeting of the Board of the Freestone County Baptist Association, for 1910, was held with the Wilson Chapel Church, Jan. 28th. This church is located four miles southwest of Donie, near the corner of three counties, Limestone, Leon and Freestone. The attendance was very good for the mid-winter session, eight churches being represented. Bro. E. J. Brown, of Fairfield, preached the introductory sermon. Brethren A. B. May, J. T. Robertson and Z. T. Womack were appointed a committee on divine services. Saturday morning at 9 o’clock, the body met, and the moderator, Bro. Brown, being very feeble when he arrived, thought it best for him to return home. Bro. G. W. White was elected moderator and the prepared program was taken up and discussed. Committee on divine services reported that Bro. G. W. White would preach at 11 a. m., and Bro. Thad P. Carter, of Mills county, a theological student at Baylor University, would preach at night. Miss Neely Howell, of Donie, was present with a W. L. Moody colporter library, a choice collection of books, and said she would give the profits on all sold to county mission funds. Adjourned for dinner. At 1:30 the Board proper met and agreed to send a missionary out at our next meeting for the summer months. The following amounts were sent for Aesociational Missions: Sanders Creek, $2.50; Luna, $2.80; New Providence, $2; Corinth, 60c; Antioch, 60c; Miss Neely Howell, 80c; public collection, $7.26; total, $16.85. The second quarterly Board Meeting of the Freestone County Baptist Association met with Antioch Church, May 27, 1910. There was not a full attendance of the Board present, owing to the very busy times with the farming class since the recent rains, otherwise the attendance was good. The song service was excellent, being led by Bro's J. M. Baker, R. A. and Leroy Pickett of Pyburn. Miss Neely Howell of Donie was present with a colportage library and offered to give all profits on books sold to Associational Missions. The introductory sermon was preached by Rev. J. H. White of Dew. - Bro. E. J. Brown, Mod., appointed the following brethren a committeee on divine services: J. A. Chavers, R. R. Childs, J. W. Richardson, who reported that Bro. G. W. White would preach at 11 a. Saturday. At 2 p. m., Saturday, the Board was called to order by the, Moderator, and after some discussion of the situation the following resolution was offered: Resolved, that it is the sentiment of the Board that the pastors of the churches in the Association take up the mission work, trusting the churches to sustain them. As we have no other offers for missionary work in the Association, a sentiment prevailed that the Moderator call an extra session of the Board to meet at Fairfield on Thursday, June 16, to further consider the missionary work in the county, and all hope that a full representation will be present. The following amounts were collected and sent up for the different causes; State missions, $ll; Asso. missions, $5.15; B. M. A. Orphans Home, $3.60; Baylor College at Belton, $1. Of the above amounts the Post Oak church sent $5; Pleasant Grove, $2.55; Caney, $1.50; Miss Howell, $1.05; Antioch, $1. We had a glorious meeting. It is always well for the brethren to come together in unity. The ladies served dinner two days from baskets. Z. T. Womack, Clerk. ==================================================================== The Fairfield Recorder - Friday, June 24, 1910 Page: 4 Board Meeting. The Board of the Freestone Co. Baptist Association met at Fairtield, Thursday, June 16, at 10 o’clock. Devotional services by G. W. White. Body called to order by the Moderator. John White was elected Clerk pro tem. Six churches were represented. Not being a quorum present, we entered into business in an informal way by the way of suggestions and talks. The sense of the body was, that the pastors of the Association do the missionary work, trusting God and the brethren for support; each brother to make his report to the Board or Association when convened. The work assigned was to the destitution and churches without pastors. It was suggested that where they labor they take up collections, for Associational Missions. Adjourned to meet with Sanders Creek Church, Friday before the 5th Sunday in July. E. J. Brown, Mod. J. H. White, Cl’k Pro Tem. ==================================================================== The Fairfield Recorder - Friday, October 21, 1910 Page: 10 Baptist Association.
