The Baptist Association met at this place Friday the 18th and ended Sunday the 20th. There was a good attendance, and so far as we know all passed off harmoniously. Dinner was served on the ground Saturday and Sunday. All seemed to enjoy themselves. The introductory sermon was preached by the appointee, Eld. J. W. Richardson. On account of bad weather, no business was transacted Friday. SATURDAY MORNING SESSION In absence of the moderator, Bro. J. W. Richardson acted as moderator pro tem. After Scripture reading and prayer the Association was called to order by Bro. Richardson. Brethren J. S. Elliott, of Waxahachie, and W. Z. Corbin, of Blooming Grove, were appointed reading clerks. The following churches were represented by letters and messengers: Antioch, Luna, Stony Point, Stewards Mill, Corinth, Sanders Creek, New Providence, Cedar, Caney, Ebenezer, New Hope, Ward Prairie, Fairfield, Teague. Officers were elected as follows: Eld. G. W. White, Moderator; Lee Kirgan, Clerk; S. F. Ledbetter, Treasurer. Visitors: Bro. J. S. Elliott, Secretary Baptist Orphanage, Waxahachie; W. Z. Corbin, State Missions, Blooming Grove; D. L. Scarborough, Jacksonville Baptist College. Bro. Corbin took the Chair while the Moderator and Bro. Richardson selected members for the various committees. Appointments were made as follows: Divine Service: E. J. Brown, E. C. Lindsey, D. Bloxam. Obituary: R. R. Childs, I. R. Kirksey. Foreign Missions: Dempsy Bloxam, W. M. Ezell. Sunday Schools: A. L. Evans, ........ Finance: E. J. Brown, J. Cleary, J. S. Ivy. Associational Missions: J. W. Richardson, R. H. Curry Old Ministers’ Relief: Robert Christian, P. E. Oaks. Nominations: W. A. White, C. R. Teer. Education: J. H. White, E. C. Lindsey. Orphanage: J. P. Teer, C. H. Richardson, C. D. Chappell. State Missions: W. Z. Corbin, H. C. Harris. Report of County Missionary J. E. Jones adopted. Motion to pay balance due him, carried. Annual report of Treasurer E. C. Lindsey adopted. Bro. E C. Lindsey made a short talk on Old Ministers’ Relief, after which a collection was taken for this cause, and $13.00 was received. Committee on Divine Service reported Rev. W. Z. Corbin would preach today at 11 a. m.; Eld. C. H. Webb tonight, and Eld. J. S. Elliott tomorrow at 11 a. m. Preaching by Bro. Corbin. Adjourned until 1:30. AFTERNOON SESSION After Scripture reading and prayer the Association was called to order by the Moderator. After a short talk on State Missions by Bro. Corbin. New Hope pledged $5.00 and a cash collection of $18.20 was taken. Committee on Baptist Orphanage reported and Bro. Elliott made a talk on the orphanage, after which pledges and a collection were taken as follows: Bro. Richardson pledged Caney, Young, Ebenezer and Luna Churches $5 each; Post Oak $10, Ward Prairie $5, A. L. Evans $5, collection $10.70. Bro. Scarborough made a talk on Jacksonville Baptist College, after which a collection of $2.10 was taken. Luna voted as place for next meeting of body. Reports of various committees were adopted. Teague church pledged $1.00 for minutes. Adjourned to meet with Luna Church. G. W.
