R. Evans. It is a little boy and his name, "Johnnie" - Butler Local ------------- We have a debating society at Brewer and the subject of a recent discussion was "the hog law," and some of our boys got a little wrathy on the question - Brewer Local ------------- Mrs. J. D. Sawyer has added a grocery room to his dry goods establishment. He returned from Dallas a few days ago with a stock of goods - Brewer Local ------------- Dr. J. E. Thomas is the second man to make our place look like town, by painting his house. Mr. Hunt did the work. - Brewer Local ------------- Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Edwards, of Butler, gave the young people a pleasant little hop last Friday night. It was well attended and all seemed to have a nice time. - Liberty Local ------------- Mr. Boon Anderson, of the St. Elmo neighborhood, announces this week for Tax Assessor. ------------- Mr. L. R. Boyd, clerk in the postoffice here, went to Waco Tuesday as a witness in the Marsh letter case. ------------- We are sorry to learn that Capt. Haynie, near Avant Prairie, is still very sick, and his recovery thought to be doubtful. ------------- Mr. James Willard, of Ward Prairie, was bitten on the bottom of his foot by a snake Monday evening. After killing the snake and applying some simple remedies to his foot, he came to town for medical treatment, and is, we believe now all right. ------------- Mr. J. W. Chappell, living about four miles west of town has had the misfortune to lose another one of his children. His little daughter, Nettie, last Monday of inflammatory rheumatism. Her remains were interred in Fairfield cemetery Tuesday night. ------------- Mr. John Mims, who is thought to be the oldest man in the county, is quite ill at his residence, about two miles from Fairfield. He has been confined to his bed two weeks or more, perfectly helpless, and it is feared he will never recover. ------------- Died, at her residence in Fairfield, Texas, about 2 o'clock A.M., Wednesday, April 21, 1886 Mrs. Nannie Anderson, wife of Mr. J. C. Anderson, aged about 45. The deceased had been in bad health for a year or more, but it was not known that she was dangerously ill until a day or two before she died.
