Wooldridge writes us from Abilene stating that he will be here on June 20 to resume his dental practice. He also wrote that the temperature at Abilene on the 15th was 110. Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Watson, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Peyton and Miss Lois Pryor and Ray Watson left the first of the week for several days outing in the San Antonio country. Doyle Satterwhite, linotype operator on the Wortham Journal, was in the city Monday, and paid this office a fraternal call. Mr. and Mrs. C. N. Williford, of Lubbock, are visiting Mr. Williford's parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. E. Williford. Mrs. Love, of Teague, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Frank Williamson, this week. Mr. and Mrs. B. S. Broils, of Dallas, are visiting Mrs. Arch Evans, East of town. See the play, "Home Acres", Dew, July 4. Watt Baker, of Houston, is visiting here this week. Dr. and Mrs. H. H. Wooldridge have returned from a two weeks' visit in Waco, Abilene and Burkburnett. Mrs. T. H. Bonner will leave next Monday for a six weeks' visit to her old home in South Carolina. Mrs. John Coleman and daughter, Mrs. Whatley, of Burleson, visited Lee Kirgan's family, Monday. Messrs. Potts and Simmons, of Kirven, were in the city last Tuesday. Lee Glazener, Jr., has accepted a position in Wortham. B. A. Salter, of Rusk, was here this weekk. Dr. and Mrs. Joe Johnson moved here this week from Houston, and are boarding at J. H. Harding's. V. at Fairfield to Hold a Reunion Special to the News FAIRFIELD, Freestone Co., Texas, July 14 - On July 22-24 the annual reunion of W. L. Moody Camp, U. C. V. will be held at the reunion grounds, a mile east of Fairfield. Many prominent men of the State will speak. On July 14 all the candidates for Governor have been invited to speak in interest of their candidacy. J. A. Hill is remodeling his residence, which when completed will add much to the beauty of the town. J. R. Tate has purchased a lot and will soon began work on a new residence. Howard Odom has just completed a new bungalow. ============================================================== Dallas Morning News September 26, 1924 Freestone County Special to the News FAIRFIELD, Freestone Co., Texas, Sept. 25 - The recent heavy rains have delayed cotton picking in this county. The grade of the staple has been lowered considerably. Farmers report over three-fourths of the cotton is picked and the yield at least one-third short of normal. Buyers are paying 20 cents for cotton and $26 per ton for seed. The Fairfield gin has ginned 300 bales. ============================================================== Dallas Morning News October 3, 1924 Freestone County Special to the News FAIRFIELD, Freestone Co., Texas, Oct. 1 - Most of the cotton in this section has been picked out. The staple is of very good grade and is selling at 23 1/4 to 24 cents. Seed is selling at $24 per ton. McKnight, of Nacogdoches, owner of large tract of land on Grassy Hollow, two miles West of Fairfield, was here last Friday. Mrs. Laura Bell Griffith, of Dallas, is spending the holidays here with her mother, Mrs. J. P. Robinson, and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Brubaker, of Angleton, are here visiting Mrs. Brubaker's parents, Dr. and Mrs. H. H. Wooldridge.
