Mrs. T. J. McDaniel is spending the week with Mr. and Mrs. C.K. Hawthorn. It might be well enough to look over the ads as some of the merchants are talking Chistmas. Mrs. J. L. Webb was accompanied to College Station Monday by Mrs. Hugh Burleson and Mrs. C. V. Reed to carry her son, J. K., Jr. back to school. R. G. Bounds, Jr. went as far as Hearne, on his way back to State University. J. B. McBryde is very sick this week. Hugh Burleson was in Corsicana Tuesday evening. Mrs. T. J McDaniel and Mr. and Shelby McDaniel and Martha? Ann McDaniel of Dallas visited and Mrs. C. K. Hawthorn Thanksgiving day. PERSONAL BROADCAST The rain of the 29th and that night measured seven-eights of an inch. It fell slow or drizzled and most of it went into the ground. Hours changed—The rural mail out of Streetman now leaves at 9:15 a. m. each morning. It would be well enough to mail your letters the evening before. The old time Thanksgiving was observed by tire blank and a number of business firms and the weather was such there wouid have been but little business. Mr. and .Mrs. S. A. Glark and Miss Imogene Brewer of Ftort Worth were guests of their father and mother, and grandmother, Dr. and Mrs. W. O. McDaniel for Thanksgiving dinner. Miss Grace Burleson of the Harris Memorial school of nursing spent Thanksgiving at home. Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Potter of Ft. Worth visited their mother, Mrs. Ma[ttie?] Cole Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Shelby McDaniel Dallas were Thanksgiving guests of C. K. Hawthorn. Another T. S. C. W. student home for the holidays was Miss Cordelia McSpadden. She was accompanied by Miss Catherine Winters of Pine Bluff, Ark. Mrs. Starley Alford and son Noel of San Antonio were guests of their mother and grandmother, Mrs. J. N. Milner Thanksgiving. Miss Winifred Horn of Wortham spent Wednesday night and Thursday with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. A. R. Horn. John Shaddix and Mrs. Emmogene Shaddix apd daughter, Sandra of Arp, were visitors among friends in the city the week end. R. G. Bounds of Austin spent Thanksgiving with parents, Mr., and Mrs. R. G. Bounds. Mr. Allen Edens spent Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Milner Mrs. H. P. Grizzard spent Thanksgiving with her sister, Miss Bess Jones in Fairfield. Miss Elsie Perl Cherry is working in Fairfield for Miss Bess Jones. Miss Francis Reed Middleton of Roone spent Thanksgiving with parents Mr. and Mrs. G. C. Middleton. Mrs. G. Q. Baker and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Ferguson and son, Jimmie. Mr. and Mrs, Emmett Ferguson and son, Rody, spent the Thanksgiving holidays with their sfeter and family of Norman, Oklahoma. Mr. Mack McCary Jr. of Denton spent Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. Mack McCary Sr. Miss Francis Milner of Blooming Grove spent Thanksgiving with her mother and dad, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Milner. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Neville of Grapeland and Mr. and Mrs. Fort Means of Mexia visited Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Neville Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. S. A. Clark of Ft. Worth and Mr. and Mrs. June Clark and son, June Prince, of Corsicana visited their mother, .Mrs. A. E._ Clark on Thanksgiving. The people were not altogether pleased with the two Thanksgivings, but this writer was much pleased with a dinner last Thursday from thoughtful friends that contained both the white and dark meat and the necessary ingredients, for which he is very thankful. Preston Ivey was absent from school Tuesday. We wonder if he is married. Maybe the diamond ring was not a fake. Mona Rene could not play volley ball Tuesday for watching cowboy boots. Mona Rene, Edna, Frank, and Edith went to the football game at Richland Monday night. We Seniors have been looking at some expensive diplomas. How about lending us some more money, Bill? Randall Haywood and Preston Ivey played on the Streetman Independent football team Tuesday night. Inez Robinson was absent from school Tuesday. J. W. Robinson went to Dallas last Tuesday. Miss Virginia Bowden of Corsicana visited Mr. and Mrs. Less Grayson last week. Mr. J. O. Lewis was a Fairfield visitor last week. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Cate and son Thomas Arch. Mr. Jack Hawk was in Fairfield Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. John Hurtick and Wencie were visitors of the Carroll folks last week end. T. L. Sherrard and Hugh White Steele were in CuTry Tuesday. The Gulf station has had a facial. Well, anyway it is being painted—looks nice, too. Mrs. John Lansford and daughter Laree of Richland were in Streetman last week. Mr. and Mrs. I. O. Smith sons spent the holidays with Mrs. Smith in Waxahachie. Pension Checks to the aged will go out of Austin about Dec. 15tb, and will average $8.75, 14c[ents] larger than last month due to 306 less pensioners. Billie McKissick and family now live, in the cottage across the street from the Methodist Church. You people who want this paper to make a good showing for the holiday season, should send in the name of your visitors promptly. J. W. Vaughn, well known Freestone County citizen, died at his home Saturday morning, Nov. 18, following several months of declining health. The funeral was held at the Steward’s Mill cemetery Sunday afternoon at 2:30 with Revs. O. C. Linstrum, J. N. Vincent, James Morgna, and W. R. Miller conducting the religious services. — Fairfield Recorder. [Page 6] PERSONAL BROADCAST Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Epps and son, Robbie, were Saturday evening visitors among old acquaintances. Miss Tommie Lois Ivey visited her sister, Mrs. Bryan Frost, in Corsicana during the holidays, Miss Ellav Livingston and Mr.Scoggie Lansford were married Saturday afternoon about 5:30 o’clock in the home of Rev. O. F. Barton, Rev. Barton performing the ceremony. I hear Mr. and Mrs. Leslie McCary of our town are pretty happy these days. Their daughter, Mrs. T. H. Coffelt and husband of Houston and friends of Houston visited them last week end. Their son, James L. (Mack) McCary of Denton visited them Thanksgiving for several days. Dalton Hardison of Nineva visited his aunt, Mrs. W. G. Ivey, over the holidays.
