"3 killed in accident

FAIRFIELD - Three people were killed in an accident involving a funeral 
procession in Freestone County, authorities said Monday. 

A car had pulled off two-lane Texas 84 Sunday out of respect for the funeral 
procession but was struck from behind by another car, the Department of Public
Safety said. The second car then bounced into the path of the procession, 
crashing head-on into a car of mourners, troopers said. 

Floyd Osburn of Clute and Glenda Cruz of Freeport, on their way to a relative's
funeral, were killed, the DPS said. Lanora Cruz was injured, troopers said. 
Also killed was Larry Austin of Fairfield, the driver of the car that rear-
ended the first vehicle. 

The funeral went ahead, although it was delayed."
