When looking at information about the area that is now Freestone County's prior
to its formation, one needs to look at other counties.

1835 Milam County and Nacogdoches County formed
1837 Robertson County made from Milam & Nacogdoches
1846 Limestone County created from Robertson County

1850 Limestone County split to form Freestone County.  The creation of
Freestone County was approved Sept 6, 1850 by the Texas legislature.  The 1850
census for Limestone County occurred September to October.  Freestone County
was offically organized Jan 6, 1851.

Since 1851, Freestone County's boundaries have remained the same.
