Steen et al (10 acres) This Indenture made and entered into this day of June A.D. 1855, between George Harrison of the County of Freestone and State of Texas of the one part and Isaac H. Steen, Noblet Johnson, Vincent Harrison, William A. Chandler and William S. Compton of said County and State of the other part witnessed that whereas, heretofore to wit, at a quarterly meeting herein the town of Fairfield on the Saturday preceeding the second Sunday in April 1855 for the Springfield Circuit of the Texas Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church South, the said parties of the second part were duly appointed trustees for Harrison Chapel on the waters of Browne creek in Freestone County and duly empowered to receive from said George Harrison such title as he could and would make by way of donation to the Methodist Episcopal church South of ten acres of land on which said Harrisons Chapel is built. Now for and in consideration of the promises and for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged the said George Harrison has this day given, granted, bargained, sold, conveyed and forever quit claimed, and he does by these presents give, grant, bargain, sale, convey and forever quit claim unto the said parties of the second part, one such successions as the proper authority of the Methodist Episcopal church may appoint as trustees for said Harrisons Chapel, the following described tract or parcel of land to wit, lying on the waters of Browns Creek, a tributary of the Buffalo and known as part of the G. Riddle fractional entry ___on which Harrisons chapel is now built. Beginning a/a stake, B.I. 8 in. bears s 74’p.,w.3’p v’ the N.E. corner of Thos Sanfords fractional survey-thence s 3.41/2’ E. with Sanfords line 412v’ to a stake B.I.14 in. bears et.64’ w.2 v B.I.8 in bears v’43’ 861/2 v’. Thence N 33 1/2 ‘ s 116 to a stake-Thence N.W. or parallel with Thos. Sanfords line 412 v, ___stake in the line of the Joseph Corly/Cordy? survey, Thence in a S.W. course with the Joseph Cody line 116 v to the beginning to have and to hold to the said parties of the second part as trustees and their successors forever to the only use and benefit of the M.E. Church South for the purpose of places of worship & a school house (if they choose to appropriate any portion of it to that use) and the said George Harrison only warrants and defends the right and title of the same against his heirs and then claiming by through or under him in law or equity unto the said trustees and their successors forever. The G. Riddle practional entry is not yet patented and when it is the patent will doubtless come out in the name of G. Riddles heirs though it is really mine and the foregoing quit claim is intended to convey such title as either myself or my heirs may hereafter receive or be legally entitled to, or are now legally entitled to receive on and to said ten acres of land.
