Freestone County, Texas Communities Old Ghost Towns - Post Office: Baty Baty's original proposed name was Arno, but for some reason that was changed to Baty. Apparently the later application survives at the National Archives and sets the second attempt to make the post office on Jan 23, 1901. Baty appears on a 1919 Corp of Engineers map for the Mexia quadarant. Baty was south of Teague along the Trinity and Brazos Valley Railroad line. The closest community was the community of Beene to the south. Mills was 3 miles northeast of Baty. Beene was 3 miles southwest. Luna was 4 miles east. The area was drained by the Cedar creek and Baty was a mile east of the creek.
