Freestone County, Texas Communities Center Point / Cedar Point Community The Center Point community was located about four miles north west of Butler. Farmers in the area planted cotton and corn. Center Point had a joint school house/church. Social events included the farmer's Alliance Documentation shows Center Point as a community from at least 1883 to 1896. Mrs. Mary Shelton obit in Oct. 1895 lists her home near Center Point. Mary Shelton is buried at the Ivey Cemetery near Butler. Mrs. L. C. Ivy's obit in the April 17, 1903 issue of the Fairfield Recorder does not list her home as Center Point, but rather "four miles north of Butler". So it seems that Center Point as a community had ceased by then. Church: Center Point Baptist Church 64 members led by J.D. Williams in 1883 listed with Brewer post office 57 members led by W.B.
