Freestone County, Texas Communities Old Ghost Towns - Never had a post office: Lake Creek/Beaver [Editor note - I have associated these two communities together because I believe they were linked.] Beaver was located near Kirvin. Lake Creek was located west of Teague. [Special Thanks to Linda Mullen for the following information:] "I noticed on the archives that Lake Creek was a community. I don't know if that is the same as the Lake Creek mentioned in the Book that Patty found at the museum for someone in the Beaver family.... After reading a few pages in the book written by Thomas H Beaver, I found out that the Beaver Creek was also known as Lake Creek and Bib Creek (branching off Limestone Co's "Big Creek"). I finally found Lake Creek on an old 1918 map and then on a more recent map [1940] it was known as Holman that branches off into Cat Creek. I have included some snippet views as well as some links to the maps. If you look for Brown's Lake in Limestone County on modern maps; and then follow the county line south. You will find Holman Creek listed between there and Cedar Creek. So this would be probably where Rev. James Beaver set up house keeping when he came to Freestone County and had his 3000 acres. To me it looks like this land does not have any public access as I see no county roads driving through it. County Road 822 is the nearest CR to Holman / Beaver Creek. Numerous gas well roads are there." Both of these communities would be on the edge of Limestone County.
