The Oak Grove community was a traditionally Africian-American community. The ranch lands in the area are drained by Tehuacana Creek and Collard Branch. A 1918 soil map shows the Oak Grove Church. At the time, it was a mile and a half east of Rischer's Store and north of Rhode Island Church and Stewards Mill.
