I have probably misattributed some facts to the wrong commmunity.] Pleasant Hill #1 The Pleasant Hill community was located near Wortham. Featured a singing school in 1888. A. ============================================================= Pleasant Hill #2 / Tabernacle The Pleasant Hill community was located off Co Rd 930 near Ranch Rd 1386 north of modern Highway 84. Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church (first known as Missionary Baptist Church) was founded in the late 1870s as an African-American church located about a half mile east of the community of Simsboro, northwest of Teague. Pleasant Hill Church appears on a 1918 map. The Pleasant Hill Church was half a mile east of the Simsboro community on the road between Fairfield and Simsboro. The area is the headwaters of Cottonwood Creek. Missionary Baptist Church started in the Tabernacle School building in Simsboro before land was purchased south of the school in the late 1870s. A number of other churches were in the area. Wesley Church was about a quarter mile wast. Hopewell Church was about a half mile south. School: Tabernacle school Was a free public school that F.G.
