Freestone County, Texas Communities Old Ghost Towns - Never had a post office: New Providence Located in the southwest part of Freestone County, the New Providence Baptist Church was next to the Union Church. Providence Church was near the county line with Limestone County in the Union/Tacker community. Providence Church was located south of Teague going to Donie. The area is drained by Bear Branch of Sanders Creek. Providence Church was located near the old communities of Beene and Freestone. Personville in Limestone County was closest post office. New Providence was mentioned in newspaper submissions as late as 1904. A 1920 obituary lists the Providence community, three miles east of the Freestone community.
