You will find two churches, Pilgrim Rest Church and Pine Hill Church, next to each other on the road. The cemetery lies another mile down the road. School: Sand Hill school not listed in 1887 list had 35 African American pupils in the 1891-2 schoolyear. had 39 African American pupils in the 1893-4 schoolyear.
