Freestone County, Texas Communities Old Ghost Towns - Never had a post office: Woods Chapel Woods Chapel was located about a mile or less southeast of Kirvin. The community was known to have a school and church. Like a number of small communities in the area, Woods Chapel began fading after Kirvin grew because of its railroad access. Grindstone Creek drains the area. Shanks was located about a mile southwest of Woods Chapel. About a mile northeast was the Beluah school on the road between Kirvin and Ward Prairie.
