Thomas is at Erskine College in Due West, SC.] Fairfield Texas Tuesday Nov the 13, 1877 Mr. Tom Robinson *1* Dear Brother Yours of the third of Nov. came to hand yes- terday and would have answered it last night but did not have any paper convenient. I am glad you are satisfied to remain. I am really sorry that Andrew *2* is so ["sorry" marked out] much dissatisfied. Cousin Jonnie sent him money *3* last Sabbath to come home. John has [been] very busy with his cotton *4* He thinks he will have nearly two bales more. I am glad that the Texas boys were not in the crowd that went to the Fair. [page 2] Tom I send Sallie a composition *5* Please send convey it to her as soon as possible and oblige, &c., &c., goodbye. Papa returned home tonight *6* He has been gone over a week. Dr. Looney to dinner here today *7* He asked very particularily about you boy. he seemed to be very much interested in you welfare. Tell Sallie he asked after her *5* especially. There was several fights in town last week. The[re] was a marriage out at Mr. Chancelors *8, 9* place. The groom was drunk and nearly all the men were drunk. Fairfield turned out in general I am sorry to say the place seems to be getting worse instead of better. ["I am" marked out] Sallie Belle has had *10* her piano tuned. I have not heard it since it was tuned as I have not been down there since. I will close as I have nothing of importance to write. All join in much love.
