[envelope with green three cent stamp] Fairfield Texas 10/31/77 Miss Sallie Robinson Due West Abbeville South Carolina SC [letter] Fairfield Octr 31, 1877 Miss Sallie Robinson Dear Sister I received your letter yesterday and was glad to here [hear] from you Cousin Johnie is to give a quilting tomorrow he invited all the kinfolks. Mr Stewarts Mill was burnt last night he lost about twent- ty bales of cotton he did not save any- thing but one sack of corn Tell Tom Mary Powell says she miss him when a rain day come she told to write to him and tell him to come home. Sister I dont want you to fall in love with any of the S.C. boys if you do they want you to walk seven miles to marry them and you know that is against my religion when there are a great number of yellow casan- [page 2] ders in Texas. Sister I want you to pick me out a pretty sweethart and tell her if she is willing to change home in SC and seek a home in a new country just come to Texas. Sister Jane has been quite unwell for the last week We are all well at present. Sister you must excuse bad writing for my thumb is sore. Write soon to your brother J L Robinson
