[Note - Letter is written on embossed stationary] Fairfield March 20th, 1878 Miss Sallie Robinson Dear Sister I received your letter yesterday but it had been here several day[s]. I was away from home at the time. Pa wrote to Cousin John but what was in it[,] I do not know[.] Pa told me that he had wrote to him. But dont you have any- thing to do with that girl and never speak to her[.] tell her that things has past betw- een you and her that will [n]ever be straton [straight on?]. Cousin [text missing] do you roung[wrong] in [text missing] he said he would [page 2] have all the School up a- bout it and has not fare[far] as going before the faculty & there is no harm in that prove yourself clear of all charges. John has not got back from Austin yet. I look for him tomorrow or next day if nothing happens. I lorst[lost] another one of my horses last week that is four this year I have lost so it runs me short of plow stock. Mr. Pattison & Potts left here this morning to go over the creek, and I think Mr. Pattison is smitten down at uncle Jim's he stays there all the time when he is in town. We had some nice meat bair[bear] yesterday very fine, and we have fish twice a week and I wish you all were here tomor- row to get some fish I will ha[text missing] fine one. And May [text missing] so much but [text missing] [page 3] will get some of the bones in her throat. May is in my lap now and I cannot half write for her gabering about Bettie & Sallie Sister Jennie is in town this week we all went to Mexia last week to hear Blind Tom performance on the piano. But did not have the children's pictures taken as we did not have time but will have them taken this spring and send you all some of them: McCards? says he is done with Texas as he went to Hardin County he and with a piney woods boy that let him into some of Texas? ????? ways. My chickens in[is] not doing well this spring from some caus[e] our garden is doing very well every- thing looks fine. I set out an orchar- d this spring but has not done well several of the trees has died [text missing] the willows in the yards are so [text missing] May has under them for her [page 4] play house and stays under them nearly all the time. How is Hattie Young is she going to College now or not tell her that I wish she would send me one of her pictures to see her when she is young as I dont think I will ??? never see Due West again. To Miss Macie or Mollie either are married or Miss Katie Patton I never here[hear]any one say any- thing about them now.
