[Letter of Maggie Bonner to Oliver Young Bonner, 25 Oct. 1913] [p. 1] Oct. 25, 1913 Dear Brother Young The way Offie is doing is almost more than I can stand. Five weeks ago Thursday he was in a big drunk but hasn’t drank any since, until this Thursday night, not tight though, and yesterday & last night. My, I have never seen him so silly. Mr Bill Davis[?] had to bring him home last night after 7 o’clock and spent the night. Offie said he wanted supper and would pay me for both. Some time ago I saw an advertisement how a woman cured her husband. I wrote to her, and she wrote me a nice letter. I will send it to you also a booklet of her life, read them, the treatment cost $5.00 dollars. Now I want to know if you will let me [p. 2] have the money and give it a trial. I will pay you back some time. I wouldn’t ask this of you but Offie got my letter from the woman out of the [post] office & he wanted to know all about it. I managed to show him the little book. I know if I would ask him for the money he would never send. I don’t want him to know anything about it though if I could get the money. I would have them to send it to Uncle Erwin or Mr Glazener so Offie woudn’t know it. Now if you don’t care to help me to buy I will try some one else as I am going to give it a trial. Hope to hear from you soon. I remain, as ever Maggie Bonner
