Personville, Texas Dec. 30, 1914 Miss Bettie Bonner Fairfield, Texas My dear little Bettie I am feeling pretty good to- day. I intended to write to you yesterday afternoon but I was feeling so blue, (as violet says). Every thing went PG_2 wrong at school yester- day; the boys in my room went into the Church at noon. I had already told them to stay out, some of them did not know their arithmetic lesson, two boys cut a pigs tail off, one held the pig the other - preformed the operation. Oh it was terrible. To-day things were quite different. Oh yes you said that you did not know who Violet is. She is the girl who is helping me with my school. For some reason I have never found out exactly. Ava Kennedy did not get the school. Land sakes pa my hand certainly does hurt. Violet and I went after some wood just now and decided to run a race back to the house. I had on an PG_4 old tight skirt so I fell down and tried to turn a "somersault" on the ground. For some reason all of the skin came off of my hand. It sure does hurt too. Dearest girl, the breakfast cap is just wright and it is so pretty, words fail to express my thanks and appreciations I told mama that I was ashamed of the tacky thing sent to you. PG-5 There are already two children in here for me to help them work arithmetic. I cirtainly enjoy helping them. Well I have told every crazy thing I can think about. Where is Gertie (Mathews) --- now? I am sending you some trimming for an apron I made it on a hairpin. I know you can make it too. It is for your birthday apron? PG_6 Violet says that she is going to get mar- ried as sson as school is out. I wish the poor fellow knew her as well as I do, Then if he still wanted to marry her I would not care. Did you all have your Christmas tree at Stewards Mill. There intended to be a tree at home at the M.E. Church it rained *A* so bad. PG_7 I certainly had a good time while at home, of course I was at home almost all of the time; I wish it had been pretty weather and you could have been with me. Oh I got some of the cutest little pins you ever did see for a Christmas present. Every one down here at Personville got married during Christmas. PG_8 I will be so glad when school is out so you will come to see me, you must stay all summer so you just as well be studying about that now. Of course you may not want to stay so long but you will have to just the same. These last two days certainly have been pretty have they not? *A* = "M. E. Church" is Methodist Episcopal Church, South.
