James M. Jones

I was born in Blunt County Alabama, July 16 - 1830. My father was George
J. Jones.  My mother maiden name was Sarah Lauderdale.  My father moved with 
his family in the winter of 1837 & 38 to Grimes Co., Texas, and lived 
until the year of 1844, we then moved to Freestone Co., Texas, where I lived 
until after I was married which was in the year 1854 on the 29 of June to E.A.
McBay at Springfield in Limestone Cty. where I still lived when the civil 
war broke out

where I enlisted on the 20th day of May 1861 in company I 8th Tex. Infantry
commanded by O. Y. Young.  was transfered in the Spring of 1862 to 
12th Tx Cavalry under W. H. Parsons where I remained unil close of the war I 
then returned to my old home where I lived until the winter of 67 & 68.  I 
then moved to Howard Lake in Frio Co. Tx. where I lived until the year 1871.
I then moved to Benton City in Atascosa Co where I now reside.
