According to the History of Freestone Co., Vol I, pg. 42: 19th Brigade (Texas Militia) Peck's Reserved Company - The "Braxton Bragg Cavalry" Private - Bonner, J. I. Bonner Book: Enlisted as Private in CSA in Peck's reserve company, the Braxton Bragg Cavalry. And then was appointed Surgeon of Timmon's regiment. Served along the Gulf Coast and the Louisana line. He was promoted to brigade surgeon. [Note - Dr. James Isaac Bonner was in 1861 in Peck's reserve company, the Braxton Bragg Cavalry. And then was appointed Surgeon of Timmon's regiment. Confederate pensioner - application #04715 for Childs, Edward Washington in Freestone Co., TX. ======================================================================= #5) James Hamilton Collett - b. 13 Jan 1825 in Caldwell Co., NC.; m 2 Oct 1856 in Freestone County, Texas to Margaret Ann Daviss; d 28 Ju 1916 in Austin, Travis County, Texas. J. H. Collett was elected 1st Lieutenant in Captain W. L. Moody's Company "G". Later he was in a unit in Colonel John Gregg's 7th Texas Infantry Regiment. Shot in thigh and taken prisoner at Franklin, TN. Sent to Fort Delware. One of the first prisoners released from Fort Delware at close of war. Returned to Fairfield on July 6, 1865. His navy pistol is in the possession of a descendant, Collett B. Dilworth of Austin, TX. =======================================================================
