William Bonner was an ensign (2nd Lieutenant) in Captain Bowen's Company, SC from Jan 23, 1814 to July 13, 1814. This was a company of Colonel Nash's volunteers. He volunteered at the Abbeville Court House in Abbeville, Abbeville Co., SC. in Dec 1813 or Jan 1814. William served for seven months and was discharged at Fort Mitchel, Alabama in July or August 1814. He fought at the Battle of New Orleans at New Orleans, Orleans Parish, Lousiana against the British serving under General Andrew Jackson. William received bounty land from the courthouse at Greensburg, Decatur Co., Illinois on August 17th, 1857 for his military service in the War of 1812. Warrant No. 281,351 and No. 73438.
