Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fairfield Recorder newspaper March 2008 Virginia (Martin) Adkisson Funeral services were held last week for Virginia Martin Adkisson, 82, of Buffalo who died, Sunday, March 16. Mrs. Adkisson was born in Martintown on August 10, 1925 to parents Noah and Mary Ann Martin. She graduated from Buffalo high school in 1942 and was employed with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Huntsville and Dallas until 1956. In 1949, on Sept. 3, she married James Adkisson of Jewett. Mrs. Adkisson was a member of the First Baptist Church of Buffalo and enjoyed reading and shopping for antiques. Services were held at 2 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo with Mike Gentry officiating. Interment followed at Buffalo Cemetery. Mrs. Adkisson is survived by husband James "Gene" Adkisson of Buffalo; daughter Gena Turner and husband Gary of Georgetown; granddaughter Sandy Gentry and husband Mike of Salado; sister Dixie Woodell and husband Gene of Bryan; sister- in-law Virginia Lee Martin of Humble; nephews Randy Martin and wife Melinda of Humble, Gene Martin Woodell of Bryan, and John Royal Woodell of Bryan; great nephew Matthew Martin of Humble; great niece Lorie Kay Lewis and husband Rusty of Nederland; great great nephews Alec and Noah Lewis of Nederland. She is preceded in death by parents Noah and Mary Ann Martin and brother Royce Martin. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home of Buffalo.
