"Avis M. Gilliam 
Funeral Services Held October 7 

Mrs. Avis M. Gilliam, 91, of Groesbeck, passed away October 5, 2005 at The
Jackson Plantation. Funeral services were held Friday, October 7, at
Ricks-Bowers Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Paul Gauntt officiating.
Interment followed at Union Cemetery. 
Mrs. Gilliam was born March 20, 1914 in Freestone County to Clifton C. and
Audrey Sartor. She was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church since 1929. She
retired from dress factory at Mexia in 1965. She lived on the family farm for
over 70 years and enjoyed working and staying busy. She loved to travel and
loved bus tours! 
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clive Gilliam and two brothers, Dale
Sartor and Jolly Sartor, Sr. 
She is survived by a son, Phillip Gilliam and wife Vickie of Groesbeck; sister,
Mozelle Hamm of The Woodlands; aunt, Vertis Goolsby of Madisonville; uncle,
A.G. Sartor of Teague; numerous nephews, cousins and friends. She is also
survived by her granddaughters: Gina Patrick and husband Jeff of The Colony and
Courtney Gilliam of Groesbeck; grandson, Damian Hullum and wife Christel of
Groesbeck; great-grandsons: Preston Patrick of The Colony, Drew Ferguson and
Draven Hullum of Groesbeck. 
Pallbearers were Jolly Sartor, Ricky Sartor, Mike Hamm, Michael Hamm, Duane
Sartor and Scott Holmes. Honorary pallbearers were James Gilliam, A.G. Sartor,
Gary Sartor and Lt. Col. Robert L. (Bobby) Sartor USMC."
