Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Fred Gerhard Albers Fred Gerhard Albers, 88 of Fairfield, passed away with his family by his side Friday, August 10, 2018. He was born January 17, 1930 in Giddings to Edwin Gotlieb Albers and Emma Louise Sanger Albers. Fred was one of ten children. On November 1, 1963 he married his love, Peggy J. Sherber. Fred was a proud Mason for 50+ years and a skilled master craftsman. He loved nature and with that camping and fishing was a beloved hobby with his family and he was also a Bee keeper. Cruising and traveling was a favorite time of his at every chance they had to go. Fred loved his church, Round Prairie Baptist Church and his church family. Above all else Fred loved his family, they were his number one priority. He loved being a husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather. He is preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, four brothers and one grandson. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, wife, Peggy Albers; children, Michael Albers, Kaye Albers, Jack Carey and wife Brenda, Rusty Carey, Donja Granberry and husband Rick. Numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Brothers, Richard Albers, Ewald Albers and wife Doris. Brothers in law and Sisters in law, Sam Sherber, Jimmy Sherber and wife Shiela, Myrna Davis, Douglas Sherber and wife Debbie. A host of nieces, nephews, church family and friends. Visitation was 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Round Prairie Baptist Church. Funeral service was 10:00 am Monday, August, 13, 2018 at Round Prairie Baptist Church with Bro. Ed Ridge officiating. Burial followed at Lake Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Sherber, Timothy Sherber, Randall Rowlett, Ronald Albers, Rocky Granberry, James Carey, Steven Sherber, Brian Granberry, Justin McCullough. Honorary pallbearers will be Bill Green and Deacons of Round Prairie Baptist Church.
