Freestone County, Texas Obituaries The Bryan/College Station Eagle June 6, 2001 Thomas Jefferson Allen Aug. 4, 1925 — June 4, 2001 Services for Thomas Jefferson Allen, 75, of College Station are set for 2 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Funeral Chapel College Station. The Rev. Tim Skaggs of Central Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in College Station City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and from 8 a.m. to the time of the services Thursday at the funeral home. Mr. Allen died Monday in College Station Medical Center. He was born in Wortham and was retired as an assistant professor and researcher at Texas A&M University. He received his bachelor’s degree and Ph.D. from Texas A&M University and his masters from Sul Ross State University. He was a member of the Wellborn Lions Club and was treasurer of the Wellborn Community Center for many years. He was a board member and assistant in development of the Chicago Wildflower Works in Chicago’s Grant Park and was a member of the Wildflower and Native Plant Society. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was preceded in death by a son, Forrest Frank Allen. Survivors include his wife, Billye Allen of College Station; a daughter and son-in-law, Desiree and Patrick Marek of College Station; a son, Thomas Jefferson Allen II of Abilene; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
