Freestone County, Texas Obituaries Mrs. La Rue (Lindsey) Allison (September 3, 1923 - March 16, 2008) Funeral services for Mrs. LaRue Allison were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at First Baptist Church in Teague. Interment followed the services at Greenwood Cemetery. Bro. Darrel Beggs will officiate. Mrs. Allison was born September 3, 1923 in Mexia and passed away March 16, 2008 at the Fairfield Rehab Center in Fairfield. She was born in Mexia and graduated from Mexia High School in the class of 1941. She married William Donivan (Don) Allison in 1942. They moved to Teague and her husband went to work for the B.R.I. Railroad. Mrs. Allison gave birth to a daughter in 1943 followed by a son the next year and another son the next year. She had three children after 3 years and one day of her marriage. She shared over forty-four years with her husband before being separated by his death on January 13, 1987. Mrs. Allison served as chairperson of the Red Cross Drive in the 1950’s and was proud to have helped raise a large amount of money for the Red Cross. She was an avid reader. Mrs. Allison was a member of First Baptist Church in Teague for fifty-six years and taught Sunday school and was active in many church functions throughout the years. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Williams & husband Mike of Rockwall; two sons, Bill Allison & wife Sue and Joe Allison & wife Ruthie all of Teague; seven grandchildren, Jocey McCoy & husband Jeff of Prosper, Lindsey Williams & wife Pamela of Rockwall, Todd Allison & wife Monica of Teague, Rachel Anderson & husband Doug of Teague, Matt Allison of College Station, Troy Allison of Teague, and Hayley Allison of Paducah, Kentucky; three step-grandchildren, Asa Hanrahan of Houston, Vicky Cearley of Chouteau, Oklahoma, and Tony Vaughn & wife Brittany of Teague; fourteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Helen Russ of Houston and Betty Bernice Fuller of Corsicana; one brother, W. L. “Dub” Lindsey & wife Margaret of Teague; three special friends, Fran Rogers, Joy Crundwell, Maxine Hartley all of Teague; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mrs. Allison was preceded in death by her husband, Don Allison; one granddaughter, Melissa Williams Cooke; one sister, Winnie Louise Free, and one brother, Jack Johnson.
